Onyx Perfume Oil, Sage Machado
Sage Machado Onyx Perfume Oil
A must-have for all coconut/tobacco/vanilla nuts and non-nuts as well, Sage Onyx comes close to defying description. We'll start, though, with what we know: Sage Onyx is a sinfully rich brew that opens with an undignified (fortunately) blast of coconut and oakmoss, followed closely by a positively addictive and quite distinctive tobacco accord, only to wind down once again to the most lush vanilla. As we live and breathe...
Racy and dangerous and awfully full of itself, Onyx bears the requisite Sage freshness and sophistication while skipping the precious bit - no poultry seasoning or liquid smoke in evidence - and it's one of the very few Sages that we do not think of as comfort food. It comes close in the round nutty drydown but is simply too highly-charged and evocative of an after-hours haunt in Alphabet City. Men and women will be fighting over this one (unless they've finally learned that it's so much more fun to share).
**And now for our little Sage Primer (we promised): Ahem. Traditional perfume, as you may or may not know, is typically a blend of oil(s) in a 75-90% alcohol solution (EDPs are approx. 15-22% oil; EDTs weigh in at 8 - 15%). So consider what you have in a bottle of Onyx. Oils. 100% oil, period - no alcohol, no water - so the sages at Sage have deduced that a single bottle of Onyx contains the true fragrance equivalent of 3 bottles of Eau de Parfum. Who knew??
Not to put too fine a point on it, we really should mention that Sage oils last forevermore on your skin and do not require frequent reapplication throughout the day, which is nice. They are fairly immutable in terms of staying power and yet on some skins will perk up 18 hrs. after application just to see how you're doing - and it's well-documented that the purity of the Sage oils affords them the ability to adapt to your unique chemistry, resulting in a scent as distinctive as your thumbprint. We like this little feature as well.
OK, we're heading into the finish. Sage would like to stress that these oils will last indefinitely and are virtually immune to the tragic "OMG, it's TURNED!!" fate suffered by too many hapless fragrances - if stored properly in a cool dark place and as far from direct sunlight as possible. Lestat's pocket would probably work...
1/8 oz. roll-on.
