The osmanthus fragrans is a Chinese tree whose scent is often referred to as "the Perfume of perfumes". Due to its scarcity, the osmanthus is very seldom used in perfumery. We have (until now) been deprived of this stunningly beautiful fragrance as its use in commercial aromatic preparations is restricted to small quantities. The osmanthus flower blooms in autumn and its most intense aroma emanates from the most frangible of the existing species, floating and dancing on whispers of breeze, touching the hearts of the Chinese with nostalgia and remembrance of things past. Its purely poetic refinement is depicted in legend involving the giant, Wu Gang, who, driven mad with jealousy, repeatedly attempts to eradicate Osmonthe due to its pure and intoxicating floral redolence. Jean-Claude Ellena designed this first of the series in an effort to keep alive the memory of an emotion that struck him during a visit to The Forbidden City - bestowing us with the delicacy of this distant land and the mysteries of its most prized flower. TDC's Osmanthus is a delightfully fruity, floral fragrance - and yet it's also supremely sophisticated and almost impossibly elegant, rendering it just as perfect for a summer brunch at the lake as it is for a black-tie New Year's Eve. Notes: Osmanthus, Vert de feuille (green leaf), bergamote, orange, mandarine, rose, baies roses, castoreum, foin (hay), musk. **Each of these products is available via the "Select Size" drop-down box. A) The "250 ml." - the bottle of re-polished blown glass with cap and collar of galvanized solid brass. The weighty (600 grams) flacon is then slipped into its finely stitched leather case which protects the perfume from light. The 250 ml is refillable (may be entirely disassembled). B) The "90 ml." - a smaller version of the 250 ml., this is a very hefty flacon - a breathtaking work of art. C) *new!* The "50 ml" - dubbed as the refill for the "Long Trip" aluminum flacon, we think this is just absolutely perfectly fine on its lonesome. Slight variation in bottle design; see photo above. D) The "48 heures" - the only purse spray on the market (housed in solid aluminum) that is manufactured using techniques normally associated with precision parts; may be completely disassembled. Absolutely perfect for travel (it's light, light-resistant, and refillable). Holds 10ml. D) The "48 heures" refills - The 48 heures refills are available in 2 versions: The "Discovery Pack", an introductory selection containing three 10ml. refillable bottles - one of each scent with exception of Bergamote ($55)-this is available on its own page; and "The 48H Pack" - contains three 10ml refills of one fragrance - excepting Bergamote. E) The "Estagnon" - a traditional aluminum container, is above all else a refill. Topped by a funnel and equipped with an atomizer, it permits the refill of all flacons in the line. It preserves the fragrance from light and fluctuations in temperature. Available for all four fragrances.
