Rancé 1795's Eau Sublime EDP: As a tribute to François Rancé who in 1795 was appointed as favored perfumer to Napoleon, Jeanne Sandra Rancé has revisited the vaults and selected four of the original award-winning scents developed during that time and assembled them into the "Collection Privée."
Eau Sublime is one of these four scents and it is perfectly lovely. None of the fragrances in this collection is a diva or a superstar (fortunately); rather we think of them as cherished and comfortable old friends who envelop us in their comforting familiarity and render the entire process of "what shall I wear tonight?" as angst-free as it sometimes needs to be.
Redolent but not reeking of white flowers, iris and musk, Eau Sublime's composition goes something like this: Mandarin • Lily of the Valley • White Musk • Neroli • Lilac • Myrtle • Florence Iris • Hyacinth • Lime. Egad. (We adore this one.) .
