Rose Poivree, The Different Company
The Different Company's Rose Poivree - The essence of rose, as delicate as the perfume of mischievous angels and blue skies, is also devilishly voluptuous and even downright carnal.
The rose as personal fragrance is said to have been first discovered in 1021 Hegira by the mother of a Mughal princess, who happened to note that distilled rose petals left traces of oil floating on the water's surface.
She gathered the oil and presented it to Emperor Djihangury; to this day such a gift is seen as the height of opulence as 4,000 kilos of rose petals must be handpicked in order to produce one litre of essential rose oil.
The Different Company's treatment of the beloved rose is a strong and a bold treatment, both heady and refreshing, and (you knew this was coming) unequivocally the most different rose fragrance you're ever likely to find.
Notes: Baies Roses, pepper, coriander, civette, vetiver.
